Maryville Crisis Nursery Fall Luncheon Oct. 21 to support children and families

Maryville Academy will host its annual Fall Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at North Shore Country Club, 1340 Glenview Road in Glenview. All proceeds will benefit the Maryville Crisis Nursery, which provides free, short-term care for young children when their families face a crisis.

The event will begin with a reception at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a program from noon to 1:30 p.m. Guests are asked to register by Oct. 14.

The Crisis Nursery offers around-the-clock care for children from birth through age 6 for up to 72 hours per stay. This care gives parents time to address urgent challenges, including illness, hospitalization, housing instability or the need to find employment, knowing their children are safe and cared for.

“The Maryville Crisis Nursery Annual Fall Luncheon is more than just a gathering — it’s a celebration of community,” said Alejandra Ortiz, program director. “By joining us, our supporters become an active part of a vital lifeline, proving that compassion can shield a child from trauma.”

Guests also are invited to help “fill the crib” by bringing items from the nursery’s wish list. These contributions help meet the everyday needs of children in its care.

The Maryville Crisis Nursery is located at 6650 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago. Families seeking support can call its 24-hour crisis helpline at 773-205-3637.
