In the latest episode of Where Hope Lives, Maryville Executive Director Sister Catherine M. Ryan, O.S.F., welcomed guests Jim Eaglin and Maggie Slowik from Maryville Academy Mother’s Recovery Home Network for a heartfelt conversation about recovery, healing and hope.

Together, they discussed the challenges many mothers face while overcoming substance use disorders and how Maryville’s recovery homes provide compassionate, family-centered support that empowers women to rebuild their lives while remaining with their children.

Throughout the conversation, the guests reflected on the importance of community, accountability and second chances, emphasizing that recovery is possible and that hope remains at the center of every journey.

The Mother’s Recovery Home Network includes Saint Monica Homes and Saint Josephine Bakhita Homes, where mothers receive support through recovery services, parenting guidance and life-skills development in a safe and nurturing environment.

Episode 4- April 2026

In this episode of Where Hope Lives, Sister Catherine M. Ryan, O.S.F., welcomes Walsh Academy Principal Dr. Ann M. Craig, Ed.D. and Village of Niles Streets Supervisor Toni Dati for a meaningful conversation about partnership, purpose and opportunity. Together, they highlight the growing collaboration between Walsh Academy and the Village of Niles, which is creating real-world pathways for students to explore careers and build confidence through hands-on experience.

Through this partnership, Walsh Academy students are gaining valuable internship opportunities with Niles Public Works, where they can learn skills such as auto mechanics and explore additional trades as opportunities expand. At the same time, Walsh Academy continues to strengthen its Career Technical Education offerings, including HVAC, plumbing, small engines, electrical and carpentry. These programs equip students with practical, job-ready skills that can be directly applied in the field, including at Niles Public Works.

This episode underscores the power of community partnerships in opening doors for young people. By connecting classroom learning with real-world experience, Walsh Academy and the Village of Niles are helping students build independence, discover their strengths and take meaningful steps toward their futures.

The latest episode of Where Hope Lives, Maryville’s podcast hosted by Sister Cathy, highlights the powerful work of Maryville’s recovery homes for mothers and their children. In this episode, Sister Cathy welcomes Jim Eaglin, director of recovery homes, and Katrina Ivory, parenting coach, for a thoughtful conversation about the support, guidance and hope offered through St. Monica Homes and St. Josephine Bakhita Homes.
