Supporters gather for 7th annual wine tasting at Walsh Academy

More than 80 friends, supporters, community partners, Board members and Maryville staff gathered Saturday at Walsh Academy for the seventh annual wine tasting. The event raised support for Walsh Academy’s innovative programs while celebrating the students and their journey toward greater independence and future success.
Guests enjoyed exceptional California wines and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef Zach and the Walsh Academy culinary team and students. They also toured the school, participated in raffle drawings and learned more about Walsh Academy as a nationally recognized comprehensive therapeutic high school offering academic and Career Technical Education programs.
Maryville Executive Director Sister Catherine M. Ryan, O.S.F., welcomed guests and thanked them for their continued commitment to Walsh Academy and its students. She spoke about the importance of investing in young people and the role the community plays in helping them discover their strengths and achieve brighter futures.
Dr. Ann Craig, principal of Walsh Academy, highlighted the school’s individualized approach to education. She shared how Walsh Academy continues to prepare students with diverse learning needs for greater independence, meaningful employment and lifelong success through hands-on learning and personalized support.
Guests sampled a thoughtfully curated selection of California wines while Patricia Cotner Ahern, a wine industry professional, shared insights into each selection and guided guests through the tasting experience. An assortment of hors d’oeuvres complemented the wines, creating an afternoon that was both educational and enjoyable.
Maryville extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who attended, volunteered and sponsored this year’s event. Their generosity and support help ensure Walsh Academy students continue to receive the education, career training and individualized opportunities they need to build confidence, develop valuable skills and prepare for successful futures.
