5th annual wine tasting at Walsh

Maryville will hold its 5th Annual Wine Tasting at the Charles H. Walsh Sr. Academy & Career Tech High School (formerly Jen School), located at 6935 W Touhy Ave, Niles, IL 60714, on Saturday, July 13, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Patricia Cotner Ahern, a local wine expert, will present Old World versus New World wines.

Although this is the fifth year of the wine tasting sponsored by Maryville for the school, it is the first wine tasting in Niles since Walsh Academy moved to its new location last fall.

For $50, you will enjoy several flights of wine, appetizers, a tour of Walsh Academy and raffles.

“This is an event everyone looks forward to,” said Megan Biasco, Maryville’s development director. “This year, we are offering Old World versus New World wines, which we have not done before. We are also hosting it indoors and at a different location.”

Biasco said that people enjoyed themselves in previous years. “We hope to see our friends and supporters again this year at the new location. It will be a great event that will benefit Walsh Academy.”

This year’s wine tasting will be held in the Walsh Academy gym.
