Maryville Academy will host its first Wine Tasting and Garden Tour, to benefit Maryville Jen School, on Saturday, August 15, at the Des Plaines campus on 1150 N. River Road.
Each guest will pay $25 to sample several wine varieties, enjoy individually boxed appetizers, a chance to tour the Jen School garden and more. The outdoor tent event offers three time slots: 3 to 4 p.m., 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. or 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Only 40 guests will be allowed at each hour to follow social distancing guidelines.
“We are very excited to host an event that has not been done before at Maryville,” Director of Development Megan Biasco said. “The event is a result of thinking outside the box after two of our April fundraisers were postponed due to the pandemic.”
Biasco hopes that the friendraising event will draw Maryville’s friends and supporters to the Des Plaines campus to support it. “Jen School is doing such a wonderful job with our students and the event’s success will be a big help,” Biasco added.
Jen School was selected by the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) as a NASET School of Excellence for seven years in a row. It provides authentic and experiential learning opportunities in a structured and caring environment. It works with young people, ages 10 to 21, who face academic, emotional, behavioral or intellectual challenges.
